Residents of
Georgina will soon be able to enjoy
multi-purpose trails at the Outdoor
Recreation Campus. Peter Van Loan, Member of
Parliament for York-Simcoe announced today
that the outdoor recreation area will
receive additional infrastructure funding.
The federal contribution of $383,333 will be
matched by the Province.
"This funding
builds on our Government’s previous
commitment of $4,736,458 to fund the outdoor
recreation campus," said Van Loan.
The funding
for improvements will create high quality
trails, particularly for walking, and
biking.
"I am
thrilled we can deliver additional
recreation opportunities to Georgina
residents," said Van Loan. "This funding is
another boost for our community. This
recreation complex is central to our
community and the quality of life of
residents. It will be especially welcomed by
young and active families."
The combined
contribution from both the Provincial and
the Federal Government, demonstrates the
commitment of both Governments to
stimulating the economy through the creation
of jobs in our communities. "Investments in
recreation projects stimulate the economy,
enhance local facilities and services,
improve energy-efficiency, and contribute to
the health and quality of life in
communities across Ontario," said Aileen
Carroll Member of Provincial Parliament for
Barrie.
This
initiative will support economic stimulus
and job creation, renew and rehabilitate
existing recreational infrastructure, while
encouraging higher levels of participation
in physical activity and community building.
